SMS messaging program
Last updated 26 May 2026.
1. Program name
gochron incident alerts. Operated by Bata Labs LLC (“gochron”, “we”, “us”).
2. What you get
This program delivers transactional text messages about your gochron account. Messages are sent when a monitoring event occurs:
- Incident open. A monitor you configured detected an outage, a failed health check, an expiring TLS certificate, a missed cron heartbeat, or a downstream service issue.
- On-call escalation. An unacknowledged incident has been routed to you as the next responder.
- Incident resolved. A previously open incident has cleared.
- Verification code. A one-time code sent when you add your number to your account.
Messages are event-triggered, never scheduled, never bulk, and never marketing or promotional. We do not use this number for surveys, newsletters, product announcements, or sales outreach.
3. Sample messages
The shape of messages you can expect to receive:

- gochron: Incident on [stripe-webhook-handler] is unacknowledged after [10 min] and has escalated to you. Acknowledge: app.gochron.com/i/[a1b2c3]. Reply STOP to opt out.
- gochron: [api.example.com] has RECOVERED. The incident that opened at [14:32 UTC] resolved at [14:51 UTC]. Reply STOP to opt out.
- gochron: TLS certificate for [example.com] expires in [14] days, on [2026-06-04]. Renew it before it lapses. Reply STOP to opt out.

4. How to opt in
Consent to receive SMS is captured inside your gochron account. There is no public opt-in form, because every message is tied to a specific authenticated account.
- Sign up for a gochron account at app.gochron.com (or sign in if you already have one).
- Open the user menu and go to Settings → Contact methods.
- Click Add contact method, choose Mobile phone, and enter your number in E.164 format (for example, +14155551234).
- gochron immediately sends a one-time verification code by SMS to that number.
- Enter the code in the dashboard to confirm you control the number.
- Use the now-verified number as a destination on any alert rule, escalation step, or on-call rotation in your account.
No SMS is sent to a number until step 5 is complete. If the verification code is not entered within the expiry window, the number stays unverified and receives no further messages.
5. Message frequency
Messages are sent only when a monitoring event occurs in your account. Frequency varies with how often your monitors fire incidents. Most accounts receive zero messages per week. An account experiencing an outage may receive several per hour during the incident, then nothing again until the next.
6. Cost
Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier. gochron itself does not charge per message within your plan’s monthly SMS quota. Overage and per-tier quotas are described on the pricing page and in section 5 of the terms of service.
7. Opt out
Reply STOP to any gochron message to unsubscribe the number that received it. We also recognize: STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, and REVOKE.
After a STOP reply, the number stops receiving messages immediately. We confirm with a single final SMS: “You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.”
You can also remove the phone number, or disable SMS as a delivery channel for an alert rule, from the gochron dashboard at any time.
8. Help
Reply HELP or INFO to any gochron message. We will reply with: “Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg & data rates may apply.”
For anything else, email [email protected].
9. Carrier disclaimer
Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on the recipient’s carrier, device state, and network conditions at the time of send. gochron is a best-effort SMS sender and does not warrant message delivery for any specific message; treat SMS as one of several redundant alert channels rather than the sole notification path.
10. Privacy
We do not share or sell mobile phone numbers, or SMS opt-in and consent data, with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. A phone number is disclosed only to our SMS delivery provider for the sole purpose of transmitting the alerts you requested.
See section 12 of the privacy policy for the full SMS data-handling disclosure, and the sub-processors list in section 4 for the current SMS delivery provider.
11. Supported regions
Messages are currently sent to mobile numbers in the United States and Canada. International recipients should use Slack, email, or webhook alert channels, which gochron supports without geographic restriction.
12. Contact
Questions or problems with SMS alerts go to [email protected].
